PSI Launches Faith-Based Initiative
-----------------------------------
Population Services International (PSI) announces the launch of
an initiative that will help faith-based organizations (FBOs)
around the world increase their capacity to implement HIV/AIDS
prevention activities.
Recognizing that religious figures play a powerful part in shap-
ing the opinions, attitudes and behaviors of their followers,
PSI's new project will combine its social marketing savvy and 30
years of international experience with the influence of faith-
based groups to reach people worldwide through churches, mosques
and temples with HIV prevention messages. This new program will
help churches and FBOs - better educate their congregations on
methods of HIV prevention, correct misconceptions and fight
stigma.
PSI will launch this project at the All Africa Conference of
Churches 8th General Assembly on November 26 in Yaounde, Camer-
oon, with subsequent launches being scheduled with different
faiths at locations worldwide.
