SciDev.Net's Ethics of Medical Research Dossier
-----------------------------------------------

IME announces SciDev.Net's Ethics of medical research dossier as
most 'Innovative Web Publication'

Dear all,

The Science and Development Network is pleased to announce that
its dossier on the ethics of medical research has won the Insti-
tute of Medical Ethics' Most Innovative Web Publication award.
(see:
http://www.scidev.net/ethics
and
http://jme.bmjjournals.com/misc/webextra.shtml#prize)

The prize is for the dossier's 'spotlight' on informed consent.
The spotlight contains a peer-reviewed policy brief which is in-
tended to act as an authoritative but readable guide - providing
a brief technical overview of consent, a description of why it is
important and noting aspects which are controversial. This is
linked to relevant ethical guidance, selected report chapters and
full-text journal articles. The spotlight on consent is one of a
number of recent additions to the ethics of medical research dos-
sier. As well as continually updated news, key reports and re-
search findings, there are now two new spotlights on standards of
care and what happens after research is over. (see
http://www.scidev.net/ethics).

We hope you find the ethics of research dossier a useful and im-
portant resource, especially with these new additions, and would
be grateful if you would consider passing this message on to col-
leagues and friends who are engaged in the field. Please register
for weekly e-mail alerts of all of SciDev.Net's new content at

Many thanks,
The SciDev.Net Team
