Work Wellness Conference

Dear All,
The 2nd South African Work Wellness Conference will be hosted by
the research programme "Human Resource Management for Develop-
ment" in the Research Unit "Decision-making and Management for
Economic Development" at the North West University (Potch Cam-
pus).
The conference aims to address issues such as burnout, occupa-
tional stress, work engagement, job insecurity and other issues
related to work wellness. Seminars (with research papers) re-
garding these issues in healthcare, education (teachers and uni-
versity staff), safety & security (Police Services), HIV/AIDS
and others will be presented. Workshops are also scheduled and
presented by international gurus.
The workshops are as follows:
* Managing stress and burnout (Prof Wilmar Schaufeli, Professor
of Organisational and Clinical Psychology, Utrecht University,
The Netherlands, expert on burnout and work engagement.)
* Job insecurity and labour relations (Prof. Rene Schalk, Pro-
fessor of Organizational Studies, Tilburg University, expert of
psychological contracts and work wellness.)
* Work wellness intervention research (Prof. Michiel Kompier,
Professor of Work and Organizational Psychology, University of
Nijmegen, expert on work wellness interventions.)
Some of the Keynote Speakers are inter alia:
* Prof. Wilmar Schaufeli, Professor of Organisational and Clini-
cal Psychology, Utrecht University, The Netherlands, expert on
burnout and work engagement.
* Prof. Michiel Kompier, Professor of Work and Organizational
Psychology, University of Nijmegen, expert on work wellness in-
terventions.
* Prof. Rene Schalk, Professor of Organizational Studies, Til-
burg University, expert of psychological contracts and work
wellness.
* Prof. Hans de Witte, Professor of Organisational Psychology,
Louvain University, Belgium, expert on job insecurity and
stress.
* Dr. Michelle Tytherleigh, Research Fellow, Occupational Stress
Research Group, Plymouth University, United Kingdom.
* Prof. Ian Rothmann, Professor of Industrial Psychology and
Leader of the Research Programme "Work Wellness" at North West
University.
The conference is very affordable and you are invited to par-
ticipate in this important event (There a still a few openings

provide opportunities for discussion, debate and the promotion
of knowledge and skills in this area.
