RFI: Curriculum on HIV/AIDS education in secondary schools (6)
--------------------------------------------------------------
Dear All,
I am in agreement with Wyva Hasselblad that HIV/AIDS education
needs to be embedded in reproductive health education. Further-
more, I urge that HIV/AIDS and reproductive health education be
further embedded in community and social health (public health)
education.
A policy of HIV/AIDS education in secondary schools that is
grounded in a public health approach will better foster the de-
velopment of norms and values for community and self-oriented
survival and growth in adolescents within the context of learn-
ing, conduct and feelings than the stand-alone pedagogic teach-
ing of HIV/AIDS causation, prevention and care.
