Church Leaders to Mobilize against HIV/AIDS...(2)

Dear Karrie Carnes,

As the coordinating body, can Population Services International
(PSI) summarize the policies and programs that the Summit will
be discussing and likely be supporting.

As a development professional with a long time interest in ac-
counting and accountability, I am concerned that funding that
flows through "Faith Based" initiatives has more than one
"agenda". In general I am quite supportive of the Church (in its
many versions) as a positive vehicle for social betterment, but
in the area of AIDS the Church seems to be sending mixed sig-
nals, just as the U S administration is doing.

I am sure there are many who know much more about these issues
in detail than I do, and I would be pleased to learn more from
the experts in this area.
