RFI: HIV Prevention Programmes in Prisons Survey
------------------------------------------------
Role of NGOs
The request below was forward to SAfAIDS. Forward completed
questionnaires directly to Barry at bzack@centerforce.org. It
would be interesting though to share your experiences with oth-
ers on the forum.

My name is Barry Zack and I am the Executive Director of Center-
force, an NGO in California, USA; I have been working on the is-
sue of HIV and prisons since 1986. For more information about
the work I have been doing, please check our website:
http://www.centerforce.org . I plan to present an oral presenta-
tion at the upcoming International AIDS Conference on the role
of NGOs in the delivery of HIV prevention in the prison setting.
I hope you can support this effort by either responding to this
short (two page) survey or forwarding the survey to someone that
does this work.
The purpose of this short survey is to begin to understand how
NGOs have developed relationships with local jails and prisons
in order to facilitate service delivery to incarcerated popula-
tions. Many NGOs have successfully overcome initial barriers and
are now long-term service providers in the prison and jail set-
ting.
The survey is short; the results will be reported back to survey
respondents as well as be presented at the International AIDS
Conference this July in Bangkok. Survey respondents will be ac-
knowledged at the presentation and will receive copies of the
presentation.
We can learn much from those in the field like you. Please take
the time to complete the survey and e-mail back to me. We have
much to share.
I thank you in advance,
Barry Zack
