Scientific Officer

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for
the post of a Scientific Officer. You will undertake laboratory
research in the HIV immunology and virology programme carrying
out experiments in immunology and molecular techniques to study
the pathogenesis and immune responses of HIV infection.

We seek someone with:

* BSc in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry or Biology
* At least 3 years relevant experience working in a laboratory
* A good understanding of science, immunology and biology
* Demonstrated ability to work in a highly disciplined manner in
a laboratory based on previous experience
* Ability to supervise staff, ensuring that high standards are
   maintained at all times
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Experience presenting results to internal parties
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work cooperatively in a team
* Ability to work with minimal supervision following training
* Computer literate
* Willingness to work outside working hours

Previous experience in cell culture and immunology/molecular bi-
ology and a post-graduate degree in a science subject would be
an advantage.

The appointment will be to 28th February 2006 in the first in-
stance.

The salary will be in Occupational Group D2 at a minimum total
salary package of 282,382 Dalasis per annum. For displaced staff
the package will include displacement allowances, furnished ac-
commodation, flights and other benefits.
