The International Education in Action Research Course aims to 
assist field workers to identify the needs of their communities 
and use action research and similar approaches for resolving 
health problems. The present manual is the result of more than 
ten years? experience and is intended first and foremost as a 
basic document for training field personnel. It is addressed in 
particular to doctors, nursing staff, midwives, social workers 
and other health workers responsible for the planning, organisa-
tion and management of health projects and programmes. It is in-
tended for both trainers and participants.
