Greetings to all! My name is Malina Saval and I am a Los Ange-
les-based journalist (Los Angeles Times, Glamour, the Jerusalem
Post) writing a feature story for Unleashed Magazine
(http://www.unleashedmag.com) about the tragic baby rape epi-
demic in South Africa as it pertains to the false notion that
sex with a virgin with cure one of HIV/AIDS.

My deadline is looming dangerously close (January 18) and I am
looking to secure as much information as possible on said sub-
ject so as to pen as objective and informative a piece as possi-
ble. I have spoken with consuls and health officials both in the
U.S. and abroad and am seeking more information such as statis-
tics, quotes, anecdotes, etc. Being in Los Angeles, it has been
a challenge to secure SA government information. If there is
anyone out there who is a health official, doctor, resident of
South Africa, journalist covering said topic, etc., your input
would be most appreciated.

Baby rape is also present in other countries, so to balance the
piece, I am open to information about other countries as well.
But mostly, I will concentrate on baby rape and HIV in South Af-
