Family Health International's *NEW* Research Ethics Training
Curriculum for Community Representatives
------------------------------------------------------------

Family Health International (FHI) is proud to announce the com-
pletion of the new Research Ethics Training Curriculum for Com-
munity Representatives (RETC-CR). FHI's Office of International
Research Ethics (OIRE) has developed this dynamic and innovative
curriculum to empower community representatives through training
and education to act as a competent voice for research partici-
pants worldwide.

Developed and field-tested in 8 countries, the RETC-CR trains
community representatives to understand the research process and
their roles and responsibilities as partners of the research
team, as well as the corresponding roles and responsibilities of
Ethics Committees/IRBs and Researchers. The RETC-CR addresses
universal principles of research ethics, informed consent, eth-
ics committees and other important issues.

The RETC-CR is available in English in print, online or on CD-
ROM. The French and Spanish versions will be available in the
Spring of 2005.

Components include:
Slides and text
Real-life case studies
Learning activities
Facilitator notes
References
Additional resources
