Job Announcement for field worker

Position: Temporary Field Worker, reporting to Mzikazi Nduna,
project coordinator for the FP/VCT integration study.

Salary: ZAR 4,000.00 per month (excluding benefits).

Location: Hyde Park, Johannesburg, South Africa (will be re-
quired to travel to Northwest districts of Moretele, Odi and
Rustenburg)

Assignment Length: Four months, starting immediately.

Job Description: Population Council is seeking a field worker
for a reproductive health research project in North West Prov-
ince (Moretele, Odi and Rustenburg).

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
1. Participate in project related trainings
2. Assist in data collection as required
3. Edit focus group discussion transcriptions
4. Assist in supervision of the intervention
5. Assist in supervision of field work
6. Supervise deployment and coordination of field work
7. Assist with data entry
8. Assist with the general coordination of the activities of
the study as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A degree or matric and diploma in health related field
2. A sound understanding of the district health systems and
or how clinics function
3. Some knowledge of the fields of Family Planning, STI & VCT
4. A sound understanding of research (previously participated
in a research project)
5. Computer literacy (Word)
6. Have a valid driver's licence
7. Maturity, organization skills and be able to work under
pressure with little supervision
8. Fluency in Tshwana
9. Good verbal and written communication skills in English
10. Familiarity with working in North West Province (Odi,
Moretele, Rustenburg) is an advantage

The candidate should be hard working and self-motivated. The po-
sition will involve communication and interaction with individu-
als from a variety of backgrounds.
