Call for Papers on Gender & Health

The series editors of Gender, Society & Development, produced by
the Royal Tropical Institute, are in the process of soliciting
papers for the 2005 issue that will focus on 'Gender & Health'.
The series aims to contribute to the development of information
on women's and gender issues; the annual books comprise part pa-
pers and part literature & web resources.

We are looking for 4-5 papers (of max. 6,000 words) that draw on
practical development experiences, particularly from the global
South. The focus is on the diverse strategies and approaches to
promote women's and girls' health and to advocate their rights.
Themes could be: how gender is being addressed in health sec-
tor/policy; how women's and men's concerns are addressed in
health projects, initiatives etc.; access to health services;
reproductive health and rights; youth, gender and health; health
communication and gender; HIV/AIDS prevention; sexual health &
rights; female genital mutilation; men's role in women's health.
If you are interested in submitting a paper, kindly reply to
this e-mail before March 30, 2005, explaining who you are and
the theme and regional focus of your paper. If you are not in-
terested yourself please forward this notice to others you know
who you think might be interested in submitting a paper.
Please be aware that the submission deadline of first draft pa-
pers is no later June 1, 2005.
