'The Healers'
A Two-Day Festival Exploring Culture and Health in Africa
Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April, 2005

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Keppel Street, London WC1

Debate-Exchange-Reflection-Learning Plus UK Premier of 'Scenar-
ios from Africa' Films

An Audience with Africa Remix Artist Abdoulaye Konate

A Musical Conversation with Gnawa Fusion Superstar Nuru Kane

AND

Live Drumming from Mamadou Sarr and Medoune Ndiaye of Senegal's
Ndepp Healing Tradition!


Children's events:

SENEGALESE DRUMMING WORKSHOP (Sat 9th 1.30-2.30):
Children can learn to play the djembe Senegalese style and make
as much noise as they want!

STORY TELLING FROM SIERRA LEONE (Sat 9th 2.30-3.30):
Usifu Jalloh will tell traditional stories around the theme of
looking after each other

MALIAN BOGOLAN (MUDCLOTH) WORKSHOP (Sun 10th 2.00-4.00):
Yusupha Jawara will help kids make their very own mudcloth and
explain what the signs and symbols mean.

Both the festival and the children's events are free but you
must register in advance in order to attend. E-mail Sarah Castle
or Dudu Sarr at <sarrcastle@yahoo.com> to register. Numbers for
the children's events are limited and demand is likely to be
high. When registering, please state children's ages.
