Volunteers making a difference
------------------------------
March 2005 marks the fifth year anniversary of the UN Online
Volunteering Service. UN Online Volunteers are making signifi-
cant contributions to the health information dissemination pro-
ject at Datelinehealth-Africa (DLHA) in many ways. These in-
clude: gathering, evaluating and posting Africa-relevant health
and development reports, data and analysis to the DLHA website;
writing research-report based articles for non-technical audi-
ences in Africa; providing grant-writing support and many other
varieties of work too numerous to fully recount.
In celebrating the role of volunteers in its development efforts
to get health information to underserved populations in Africa,
DLHA as a UN Volunteers hosting organisation has created a vol-
unteers profile page to showcase and celebrate the individual
profile, work and experiences of some of its volunteers.
The page is accessible through:
http://www.datelinehealth-africa.net/betav1.0/volunteer/index.asp
Datelinehealth-Africa is in continuing need of Online volun-
teers. Current priority areas include: web surfers, newsletter
sub-editors, trainers/educators in health policy advocacy,
grant-writers, fund-raisers and marketers. Interested individu-
als are encouraged to apply.
