1. Behaviour and Social Change in HIV/AIDS course

3. Monitoring and Evaluation course
11th - 29th July 2005 (cost US$ 720)
Course Content
* Monitoring - Conceptual distinctions between monitoring, su-
pervision, review, assessment and evaluation. Types of monitor-
ing: impact, physical progress, technical, financial and assump-
tion monitoring. The purpose of monitoring; Participatory moni-
toring.
* Evaluation - The purpose of evaluation. Basis for effective
evaluations: objectives, indicators, information about indica-
tors. Various types of evaluations.
* Performance and change Indicators
* Designing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Systems/frameworks:
definition, aims and objectives of the system; selection of
relevant information and indicators; tools and methods relevant
for data collection and analysis in a M&E system; organisation
for M&E; presentation and use of results derived from a M&E sys-
tem.
* Change Monitoring: The design framework for change monitoring.
At the end of each course an AMREF certificate of participation
will be issued to the participant stipulating the topics cov-
ered.
The venue for the training is AMREF International Training Cen-
tre in Nairobi, Kenya.
