Masters Degree in Health Promotion

One year, beginning February 2006

Applications from different sectors are invited for the above
qualification, commencing February 2006 which aims to develop
critically informed graduates who will be able to deploy their
expertise and skills in health promotion communication, theory,
research, policy and legislation in addressing the development
challenges facing the nations of the South in an ideologically
informed manner that challenges the hegemony of biomedicine.
Currently there is a lot of emphasis on behaviour change of in-
dividuals, groups and communities which forms the corner stone
of the Masters in Health Promotion.

The course is offered one year full-time or two years part-time
during four two-week study blocks (i.e. full-time contact). It
includes 45% course work (including practicum) and 55% research
methods and research dissertation. Applicants must have a four-
year degree or relevant postgraduate qualification. Extensive
work experience and prior learning will be taken into considera-
tion. All students must be able to communicate electronically.

Study block dates: (Compulsory to attend)
13th ? 24th February 2006
08th ? 19th May 2006
15th ? 25th August 2006
09th ? 20th October 2006

Applications close on 30th September 2005. Each short-listed ap-
plicant will have to undergo an entry interview on the 12th Oc-
tober 2005.
