Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens
-------------------------------------------
Dear Friends of the Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens
A New lecture is available at
http://www.aclisassari.com/acli-openlearning
Violeta T. Pardío Sedas (Mexico), Influence of environmental
factors on the presence of Vibrio cholerae and enteric bacteria
in a Marine Environment.
The deteriorating condition of the Gulf of Mexico estuarine and
marine ecosystems has led to concerns about the effects on eco-
system health within the region. Recent studies have shown links
between pathogens and changing ocean conditions, including human
diseases such as cholera.
The lecture examines the aquatic environmental factors that in-
fluence the prevalence of enteric bacteria, giving particular
attention to Vibrio cholerae which has caused epidemics in Mex-
ico, where epidemiological studies have demonstrated that people
living in coastal states are at high risk of contracting dis-
ease.
