There is no such thing as a free lunch. If the government pays
for something, then another section of society bears the costs
as taxes.

How can we reach the fundamentals -- the three Rs - "reading
writing and 'rithmetic" to all people? And how can we ensure
that the acquisition of this knowledge makes them better per-
sons?

I once worked in a village where the people could not sign their
names, but could recite the Thevaram (A tamil religious work)
beautifully.

The quality of this society was impeccable.
