Strengthening Health Systems to Fight HIV (2)
---------------------------------------------

Megan,

If I may respond to the article: How to Turn the Corner On AIDS,
By Jim Yong Kim, I have the following comments:

Though we are all aware and concerned about HIV/AIDS, enough is
not being done, as it affects, mostly the under-developed world
and not the developed world.

We show more grief and sympathy when a natural tragedy like
Katrina or Tsunami kills a few thousands, as it is projected
well by media and everyone is taken by surprise by the shocking
news.

But TB, HIV, AIDS, etc. kills large number of people, mainly in
the poor countries, slowly. Hence it does not get the desired
attention, to the extent it should.

Only total transparency and accountability of all nations in all
actions can help more equitable distribution of aid/treatment
for these diseases.

But will it ever happen is the mute question?
