Global Fund poised to blacklist Nigeria (4)
-------------------------------------------
Dear Stella and all well meaning Nigerians,
I have not checked my link to AFRO-NETS until 2 days ago while
attending the ICASA conference in Abuja. I was petrified to hear
of the blacklisting.
This is the information I got from a member of the Global Fund
Board at a session yesterday.
Nigeria has until December 10, 2005 to prove that it does not
deserve blacklisting. The reasons for blacklisting include using
only 23% of the funds, lack of accountability, fake reports and
poor monitoring and evaluation. NACA has a role in all this.
What we can do:
Contact Lucy Nganga <eannso@eannso.org> and any other GF board
member you know of to kick against it and get the board to give
Nigeria another chance especially now that the ICASA conference
has opened the eyes of a lot of credit worthy NGOs and civil so-
ciety organisations to what has been blocking information and
funding of a lot of grass-root work and initiatives.
Please sigh up and act now and inform more people.
