American fundamentalism (7)
---------------------------

Dear Fellow Subscribers,

Unlike certain other subscribers, I will not claim to speak for
everyone in regard to the recent post by Netzkraft. And I don't
speak for Netzkraft either; I never heard of them before. But I
would like to take issue with a comment that 'these Netzkraft
people bring nothing to the table of ideas' and they 'despise
not only America but capitalism and capitalistic countries in
general.' And, in fact, the last two days of snap judgments and
sermonizing.

I would personally not rush so quickly to judge. All we have to
go on is what they posted and their website. As for what they
posted, I think it is not true that they 'bring nothing to the
table of ideas'. There is some truth to what they say about
American foreign policy and relationship to international trea-
ties, in fact not so different than what has been said by others
in this forum when certain policies have impacted on health-
related issues. It is obviously not the whole truth -- the truth
is more ambiguous -- but it is not nonsensical either.

As for accusations of 'anti-capitalism' and 'anti-Christian'
(the accusation of a previous post), I don't read that in the
post or in the website -- there are many faith-based (including
Christian) groups apparently aligned with Netzkraft as partners,
and the website talks about the usual Green Party stuff (sus-
tainable and ecological development), not the overthrow of the
capitalist system.

Perhaps it would be best if a representative of Netzkraft came
back to explain their post further and elaborate the position of
their organization. But they might not want to by now: this fo-
rum might seem too inhospitable.
