What can change the world?
--------------------------

The following slogan is laudable:

"From the tragedy of wars and terrorism to efforts to build
peace;

from global cooperation and solidarity to go-it-alone attitudes;

from the grassroots-on-up to the UN-on-down in working towards
the Millennium Development Goals;

from recovery after natural disasters to the ongoing fight
against climate change;

from the expansion of HIV/AIDS to the rapid growth of scientific
knowledge;

and from dictatorship and repression to freedom, human rights
and democracy,

But what can change the world is not just awareness.

Awareness has been there for generations.

The situation is growing from bad to worse, on all fronts.

Worldwide, more money is spent on abusing nature, on military
and internal security.

More people spend sleepless nights, worrying about the fury of
nature, unrest, war and terrorism.

Instead, if we all choose to make life more peaceful, more equi-
table, thro' Total Transparency and Accountability, we would be
much better off as a world society.

As long as inequalities exist, there will be acrimony and the
deprived would like to take recourse to alternate action to re-
deem their lost status.

Why create such conditions of disparity?

Let the developed West and North realise, they cannot exist in
the globe, without creating peace and prosperity in the deprived
South and East, in a transparent and accountable way.

"Peace and prosperity unto all in 2006" should be the slogan of
the year.

Let us all push the world to create such a climate of change.
