Dear Anke,

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of those countries
where the national programme for the fight against malaria based
in the Ministry of Health has researched and come up with a na-
tional protocol for the treatment of uncomplicated malaria based
on ACT (combining artesunate and amodiaquine) which is slowly
being implemented country wide.

WHO is helping the Ministry of Health alongside several organi-
sations involved in the health sector to ensure that ACT becomes
the first line drug for the management of malaria in the DRC.
Sorry for being as ignorant as you on the subject of an ACT
manufacturing firm in Africa (my own part of the developing
world).
