Enteric Diseases Caused by Endemic Parasites in Egypt.

In Egypt and other developing countries, the diarrheal diseases
(enteric diseases) are major causes of illness and death in in-
fants, children and adults. In Egypt, enteric disease caused by
both Protozoan and Helminth parasites ranks second in prevalence
to Schistosomiasis. Understanding the life cycle is essential to
explain the pathophysiology of the diseases caused by these or-
ganisms and the possible diagnosis. Entamoeba histolytica,
Giardia lamblia, Heterophyes heterophyes & Ancyclostoma duode-
nale are included in this lecture.
