Applications are invited from suitably qualified West Africans
for a 3-year appointment as a Medical Officer. This is an excel-
lent opportunity for someone to work in an internationally rec-
ognised research institution in which, you will have the oppor-
tunity to participate in the Unit's research programmes. You and
another clinician will work in our 42-bed ward, which is devoted
to the care of acute paediatric and adult medical cases, under
the direction of the Senior Clinician, and will be responsible
for the clinical care of the inpatients on a daily basis. You
will work on a shift rota with other Medical Officers and will
provide on-call cover at nights, weekends and Public Holidays.

We seek someone with:

* MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
* Primary FWACP or equivalent will be an advantage.
* A minimum of 3 years postgraduate experience, with preference
   given to paediatric and general medicine.
* The ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to deal sensitively with patients.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Experience of supervising staff.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Basic computer literacy.
* Interest in clinical research into the diseases of the tropics.
* Basic understanding of medical audits.
* Good record keeping skills.
* Willingness to work flexi-time.

Salary will be in Occupational Group D3 at a minimum starting
salary of D236,066 Dalasis per annum plus allowances. For dis-
placed staff the package will include a displacement allowance,
furnished accommodation and other benefits.
