Kris et al,

Yes it is an eye opener for all and a subject that I have written about
on this site. I would like to point out that World Bank is an
organization not a nation. Rich nations are not stealing funds for the
poor, individuals are! I believe that where the system breaks down is
how the funds are distributed.

There are no checks and balances.  When you give organization "A"
funding there has to be a real person there that can be held
responsible. Prison or worse would be a very good incentive for real
progress and honesty.  There can be no hiring of relatives friends or
others that can sit on the payroll without contributing to the effort.
Running to another nation will do no good because all nations that
receive funds must have extradition treaties in order to receive those
funds.

People in charge of funds must be held responsible or there is really no
reason to send the funds at all.  The real tragedy is that while we sit
in our comfortable chair in front of our computers, the poor keep on
suffering and dying.
