Netzkraft Movement
------------------
The Netzkraft Movement: Invitation to a network of groups who commit
themselves socially, politically, ecologically or spiritually
Dear people of the African Networks for Health Research & Development
(AFRO-NETS),
Poverty and hunger are no justification for terrorism. But desperation
and hopelessness in many countries drive many young people there to
fundamentalist aggression and hatred. And what is the answer of the rich
countries?
- In 1992, it was decided during the world summit conference in Rio to
increase the government development aid which amounted at that time to
almost 0.4% of the gross national product to 0.7%. Today, we have not
reached 0.7% but 0.22% worldwide.
- The poorest countries are affected most of all by the consequences of
the climatic changes, in particular Africa where more and more deserts
as well as drought catastrophes develop. At the same time, those
citizens who are particularly qualified are tempted to leave these
countries to work in the rich countries. We export our environmental
expenses and import human capital at the charge of the poor countries.
- A global alliance against terrorism exists - this is good - but there
is no alliance against poverty and destruction of the environment. After
the end of the East-West confrontation a new polarization of the world
into poor and rich is threatening, western and fundamentalist. The world
is rearming; war is made socially acceptable as a means of politics.
The Netzkraft Movement stands up for a democratically chosen authority
of the United Nations which is in a position to develop international
solutions for international threats to peace, the human rights and the
environment and to put them through without violence. We have built a
worldwide network of organisations like yours and invite you to join us:

Best wishes and kind regards
