End malaria - FAST

Dear Friends,

In three days we will be holding the first fast day against malaria (it
starts at 9am and ends at 6pm - you can drink anything during that 
time) and we need you to participate. Fifteen of us got together one 
month ago and came up with the idea to start this fast day. Today we 
have 84 fasters and 280 sponsors participating in the fast. We have 
raised approximately $21,000 so far - an average of $261 per person 
fasting. In the past two weeks I have emailed most of you a few times 
about the fast and to those of you participating thank you so much. To 
those of you who aren't participating yet, I need your help because I 
promised the other co-Founders of the fast that I would not go to sleep 
until we have 100 people fasting. Please be one of the first 100 people 
to join us as a Faster (we only need 16 more!). This will be annual 
event and I think that years from now all of us will be honored to be 
among the first 100 who fasted to try and help save the literally 
hundreds of millions of people whose lives are seriously at risk

There are only three days left until the fast so I will only take three
minutes more to write this email and make a point. During the next 
three minutes, six kids will die from malaria. All six could be saved ? 
instead they will killed by a mosquito (which is the agent of death 
that spreads malaria). May they all rest in peace and may their parents 
and siblings who will be grieving for their loss somehow find the 
strength to move on, even though they can no longer see their child 
smile or hear their child's voice - ever. May we be fortunate enough to 
deliver assistance before another member of their family dies from a 
mosquito bite.

This is an emergency of historic proportions.

- MORE THAN FIFTY MILLION CHILDREN HAVE DIED FROM MALARIA, AN EASILY
PREVENTABLE DISEASE, SINCE 1980.
- BETWEEN ONE AND THREE MILLION CHILDREN WILL DIE THIS YEAR FROM MALARIA - 90% of them under the age of 5.

Please join with us in fasting and suffering a little to save a life. A
bednet, which is the best defense against malaria that a child could 
get, costs $5 (your lunch probably costs $5 or maybe more so you can 
save money on the deal) and 100% of the money raised will be utilized 
to buy bednets.
