How effective are male condoms in protecting men? (3)
-----------------------------------------------------

Dear Daudi,

What you have raised sounds really terrible! According to your description of the "scenario" the transmission is very possible. A man is not protected for that matter. There is a lot going on around the perineum and especially the pubic area. Shaving takes place at the pubic area and this may cause a lot of micro and macro trauma acting as entry point for the infection.

Condom is basically 100% effective but could be 0% efficient depending on the use. A lot of emphasis has been on the use of condom but nothing is known on the degree of safe use. Yes, we teach and preach about safe use. Using one at each "round" if you like, to wear when the penis is erect. But the act and sexual style which play a major role in secretion exchange and contamination is less known.

How do you teach people the private activities, war, fight, the moves, the judo which are safe to prevent contamination!!?????

I, at least know in African setting, the ego of a man is how vigorous he is in bed. That is how they are. In this context of vigorousness, contamination is imminent.

It is more depressing that the man who wears it is the one not really protected. I hate this but probably Jacob Zuma would not have been protected had he used it!!!!ave fallen a victim if he at least used it!!!!

I think it is now important to stress on the appropriate rather safe use of male condom especially avoiding contamination from each partners secretion.
