Is elimination of malaria in Africa by 2010 unrealistic? (6)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Elimination of malaria in Africa will probably never be a complete reality. However, the extreme reduction is possible. What is needed is the redirection of the funds that are currently being spent on ineffective methodologies. An integrated mosquito/malaria control program will likely spend no more money than is being spent now and these costs will actually decrease over time as the disease is brought under control. This becomes even more true as the productivity of the people is increased and personal funds that have been used to combat malaria can go to more productive use.

Much has been said about how efficient the African Anopheles is as a malaria vector. Here's a news flash for ya'all. If they are dead they are not a very efficient vector!

It is probably not cost effective to apply these methods of integrated management to very rural areas. But in the more populated areas this becomes very feasible.
