Postgraduate Masters courses for 2007

Applications are invited for admission in 2007 to the following programmes:

MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH) AND DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC HEALTH (DPH)

This programme has been designed with the needs of the twenty-first century public health manager in mind. The 2 year full-time (3 to 4 years part-time) option provides a solid basis in the knowledge and skills expected of a public health professional and prepares public health practitioners for leadership positions. Core disciplines in public health (health measurement, primary health care, management in health and health services, public health law, environmental and occupational health) and a choice of specialisation in Health Policy and Management, Health Measurement, Disaster Management, Maternal and Child Health, Health Promotion or Hospital Management (subject to adequate numbers) are offered.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN THE FIELD OF EPIDEMIOLOGY AND BIOSTATISTICS

For students who wish to pursue a career in research, this one year full-time (or 3 years part-time) masters course includes extensive computer-based training in epidemiology and biostatistics, computer software, demography and research ethics. A limited number of fellowships are available through TDR (WHO).

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN THE FIELD OF POPULATION-BASED FIELD EPIDEMIOLOGY:

Develops capacity of researchers in longitudinal data management in order to respond to the key public health challenges of the developing countries. The course includes epidemiology, biostatistics, management of relational databases and leadership in research. Coursework is 18 months full time with a 6-month field placement. Limited number of fellowships available through INDEPTH and from TDR/WHO.
