Eliminating world poverty: making governance work forthe poor (21)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

In my thinking, Africa does not necessarily need deomcracy. Monarchy has been the leadership style for Africa. So if democracy is the new order for governance, what I think Africa needs is a meeting point between Democracy and monarchy. What then is this meeting point. The meeting point should be some place that allows the people to make a choice of the kind of leadership they desire. To give the people the opportunity to freely express themselves, while not necessarily limiting them to the Ballot box or the pick and choose.

A poor man will not know much about huge economic principles, and can only judge his choice of candidate for a political office on the basis of philantrophy, popularity and popular choice. It has been said on this discussion tread that 99 pecent of the people can be going the wrong direction and only one going the right direction, so if this is the case, then democracy may not work all the time. Democracy again is very expensive and the cost of making single decisions can sometimes be as much expensive as solving the problems that those decisions are being made for. In the spirit of checks and balances and diversification, democracy has too many components that make it a burden on economies sometimes. I wish to see what the meeting point between democracy and monarchy is. Perhaps we can call this system of government "Africracy."
