Ghana gets a half billion - will this improve MDGs?
-------------------------------------------------
From: Ted Greiner
This may well prove to be useful--but wouldn't it have been nice if hunger in the MDG's had been written "nutrition" and "agriculture" was not limited to agribusiness and "public sector reform"?!

On Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Department of State, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Ambassador John Danilovich and Ghanaian Minister for Public Sector Reform Papa Kwesi Nduom signed a $547 million compact between MCC and the Republic of Ghana. MCC Chair Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice officiated and witnessed the signing.
The five-year, $547 million anti-poverty grant, the largest to date for the agency, will benefit more than one million Ghanaians and aims to improve the lives of the rural poor by raising farmer incomes through private sector-led, agribusiness development.
