Key issues in health systems: health management information systems
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I hope the following new resource, on the Health Systems Resource Guide (http://www.eldis.org/healthsystems) will be of interest to Afro-nets members.

Key issues in health systems: health management information systems

As the world community has turned its attention to meeting Millennium Development Goal targets, and ever increasing resources are going towards preventing and treating high burden diseases such as HIV and AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, decision-makers need to be able to measure whether policies and programmes are working, and whether progress is being made towards the goals that have been set. But few developing countries have effective systems in place to gather this information. This key issues guide, part of the Health Systems Resource Guide and produced in collaboration with the DFID Health Resource Centre, examines some of the challenges involved in implementing health management information systems and asks what lessons have been learned on how to overcome these challenges.
