Use of DDT against malaria (3)

Isn't it fantastic that conservative newspapers and republican senators finally scored an "emotional 9/11" point against the "bald eagle" environmentalist?

I have no idea if DDT is better or worse (or cheaper or easier to use???) than other insecticides and have no problem with its use in certain specific contexts (Southern Africa) but am annoyed by the current DDT soap opera. I fear, however, that this one might not have a happy ending with sprayed houses surrounded by playing children in the whole of sub-Saharan Africa.
