Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens
-------------------------------------------

Dear Friends of the Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens

A new lecture is available at site http://www.oloep.org/

Bacterial epidemiology and emergence of multi-drug-resistance in
Burkina Faso
Simpore Jacques, Pignatelli Salvatore and Musumeci Salvatore

Saint Camille Medical Centre (SCMC), Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso;
Department of Pharmacology, University of Sassari, Sassari,
Italy

Nowadays, Burkina Faso (West Africa) is a tropical country
confronted by many infectious diseases. The abusive use of
antibiotics against the pathogenic germs caused many resistances
in this country. The aims of the lecture is to describe the
prevalences of the most important pathogenic bacteria in the
town of Ouagadougou, to identify the types of bacteria which
acquired resistances under the selective pressure of
antibiotics, to compare resistances of Escherichia coli isolated
in coproculture in 2002 in the same structure of Burkina Faso
with our present results and lastly, to draw conclusions in
order to give advice that will enable to reduce resistances to
antibiotics in an African country.
