Use of DDT against malaria (8)
------------------------------
Omolulu,
I am not some armchair quarterback talking about Africa. I lived
there for several months. I lived in Liberia and travelled by
road from Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire to Monrovia, Liberia. I also
lived in Abidjan for a month or so. Africa is a big continent,
yes it is, and I have only seen a small amount of it. I spent a
little time in a refugee camp on the border between those two
countries also. I wasn't living in a fancy hotel or vacationing
either Sparky.
What would you say is the ratio of African's that have Air
Conditioning? When you don't have AC and it's hot out it takes
awhile for the house to cool down. I stand by my statements in
their entirety. I have been a guest in many homes in the parts
of Africa that I have seen, and that is how things were done
there.
I cannot say how things are in Nigeria but there were plenty of
Nigerian soldiers in country when I was there also. I also
observed them outside their barracks or tents in the early
evening waiting for things to cool off.
As far as your statement that I think Africa is a steamy
hellhole, and their people are backward etc., those are your
words not mine. I will only tell you that I love the African
people where I was. The reason that I bother with this site is
because I would like to help them eradicate the deadly disease
of Malaria. I get a little emotional sometimes when I hear
people spouting off about bed-nets. If bed-nets were the answer
then 3000 people a day would not be dying every day would they?
I have never been to oil rich Nigeria, maybe everyone there has
AC and a ranch home. The places I have been to however do not.
Cheers,
Craig Audiss
