Use of DDT against malaria (13)
-------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

I was interested and disappointed to see the message from
Omololu Falobi a couple of days ago.

Omololu wrote:
> As an African, I am sick and tired of people in Europe or

I agree to some extent with Omololu...but I don't think this
applies to Craig's observation.

SNIP...
Africa has enough challenges as it were, without do-gooders
adding to it with their sweeping generalisations as if Africa is
one steamy hell-hole!

And I think we also need to be a little careful about sweeping
generalizations about "do-gooders"... many of whom have been
willing to put themselves in harms way because of the anti-
social behavior of powerful people around the world... and too
much in Africa.

The challenge to relief and development success in Africa is
huge... and my position is that people with "good" intentions
need to get together and stay together to sideline those with
"bad" intentions. There is plenty of space for disagreement, in
the sense that we need to debate what is "best", while we remain
unified against thos things that are clearly "bad".

Sincerely,
