RFI: Definition of a true negative malaria blood slide
------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

In Kenya we have changed to ACT treatment for malaria. And to prescribe this drug there must be a true positive laboratory result. Bearing in mind that most microscopists have different sensitivity and specificity in their handling of malaria blood slide. As supervisors what would you consider a true negative? Is it after moving two hundred microscopic field or after counting a certain number of WBC in the thick film e.g. 400? Please let?s compare notes and come out with the most acceptable rule.

With much regards.
