I don't usually respond to these mails but as I read your response I thought to share this comment I shared with a friend. We've emailed from my Harvard emailer. 

The argument on the word 'promiscuous' is interesting and is in line with the 'moral' (if people who put this argument across can accept this word in their vocabulary) breakdown and fits exactly the argument where the word 'homosexual' in HIV/AIDS related language was altered (at least in the US) to 'men who have sex with men' (MSM). And so it seems the change in language makes it more easily acceptable because it supposedly eliminates stigma. Take care.
