What Should Macroeconomists Know about Health Care Policy? (2)

Dear Colleagues

And perhaps also someone should address the question of what
health policy experts and planners should know about macro-
economics.

Specifically, the decision makers in the relief and development
sector need to address not only the health of a person, not only
the education of a person, but also what a person can do to have
a productive life ... whether it is in formal employment or
working in the informal sector ... but wherever it is, it should
be productive.

I don't see this very much on anyone's agenda... yet when I was
doing "development" planning this was very much a critical
element in the optimizing of the use of scarce resources.
