PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases open for submissions
Agency: Public Library of Science
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, the first open-access journal devoted solely to the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), is open for submissions.
The journal is devoted to the pathology, epidemiology, prevention, treatment, and control of the NTDs, as well as public policy relevant to this group of diseases.
NTDs are defined as a group of poverty-promoting chronic infectious diseases, which primarily occur in rural areas and poor urban areas of low- and middle-income countries. They impact on child health and development, pregnancy, and worker productivity, as well as their stigmatizing features.
PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases will provide a high-quality, rapid, consultative peer-review process, and the ability to make the full text of all papers immediately searchable via PubMed Central.
In addition, authors retain the copyright to their work and give a worldwide audience the ability to read, copy, translate, and use their findings as they please.
The journals editorial board bring with them broad expertise in the field, and strong representation from endemic regions (40% of the Associate Editors, who will mediate peer review, are in developing countries).
The journal is calling for research on all scientific, medical, and public health aspects of these forgotten diseases affecting the world's forgotten people. Please visit the website for more information on how to submit your work.
The launch issue of PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases will be published in Autumn 2007.
