Dear Colleagues,

The International Centre for Eye Care Education (ICEE) is currently looking for a RESEARCH SUPERVISOR.

A.    DUTIES

ï     The Research Supervisor will assist staff to write and produce scientific papers for publication in a range of referred and non-refereed international publications, including conference abstracts. The job involves closely working with researcher, both on a one-to-one basis and as a member of research teams.
ï     The Research Supervisor will also conduct training of staff and Post Graduate students on Scientific Writing.
ï     Proof reading drafted documents
ï     Performing literature searches 
ï     Planning and writing papers from raw results
ï     Preparing conference abstracts
ï     Writing and/or editing book chapters
ï     Applying for grants and research proposals
ï     Establishing website content and preparing documents for webs publishing
ï     Producing government reports
ï     Developing training materials for staff

B.    SKILLS 

ESSENTIAL

ï     Skill and experience in planning, writing and proof reading scientific papers for publication in refereed and non-refereed journals
ï     Skill and experience in proofreading and editing protocols of Masters and alike. xpertise in public health and associated statistics
ï     Expertise in word processing, particularly MS Word.
ï     Expertise in reference management (EndNote)
ï     Experience in searching refereed journal databases
ï     Adherence to deadlines and ability to work under pressure
ï     Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
ï     Ability to work with changing demands
ï     Willingness to work extended hours (after-hours/weekends) occasionally on an as needed basis.

DESIRABLE

ï     A degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Optometry or any of the Ophthalmic sciences or OTHER biological sciences)
ï     Expertise in public health and associated statistics would be advantageous
