MRC Laboratories, The Gambia is the Medical Research Councils
largest establishment conducting laboratory, field based and
clinical research in a developing country. The Unit aims to
improve the health of people in developing countries, by
contributing to the development, testing and safe adoption of
interventions aimed at reducing the burden of morbidity and
mortality from infectious diseases.

We are interested in receiving applications from candidates with
a first degree in Biomedical Sciences and a PhD with some work
experience post PhD. You should be able to demonstrate ability
to conduct demanding field and laboratory work in a productive
and disciplined manner, combined with the ability to supervise
staff to ensure that high technical standards are maintained. In
addition, you will have good communication skills, which must
include scientific discussion and writing, the ability to work
co-operatively in a diverse team and experience with computer
based analyses and presentation of experimental data.

Salary will be in Occupational Group E1. The minimum total
salary package will be approximately 445,900 Dalasis per annum.
For displaced staff the package will also include displacement
allowances, rent free furnished accommodation, flights and other
benefits. The appointment will be for 3 years, extendable by
