PhD Studentships in West Africa: The Gambia

The MRC, The Gambia invites applications for its 3 full-time PhD studentships for any of the projects outlined below:
How does Malaria suppress immunity to Epstein Barr Virus and lead to Burkitts Lymphoma?
The effect of vaccination with a pneumococcal conjugate vaccine on upper respiratory tract (URT) microbiota in The Gambia
Measurement changes in malaria in The Gambia: a clinical epidemiological based project
Conjunctival fibrosis following ocular infection: Mediators and mechanisms of blindness?
The Studentships start in October 2007, full time for three years, and will involve collaboration with MRC The Gambia and a UK institution. Full financial support is provided including travel when required.
We particularly welcome applications from West Africans or other Africans and UK citizens may also apply.
Please send a detailed CV, including the names of 2 referees and a statement in no more than 250 words explaining why you wish to pursue PhD studies, why you have chosen the specific project and what you will bring to that project.
