KAPC wishes to invite interested participants to its 8th Counselling conference.  The theme is HIV/AIDS counselling: Trends and challenges. KAPC's conference provides an excellent opportunity for counsellors, and those interested in counselling, to exchange experiences and ideas. One of the counselling issues that continues to challenge us is HIV/AIDS. KAPC's 3rd conference in 2002, focused upon 'The Challenge and Meaning of VCT for Counsellors'.  The participants made recommendations regarding services, training, supervision, selection, policies and career structure. This conference will provide an exciting opportunity to review what progress has been made. 

These issues are so critical because HIV/AIDS counselling is found in all aspects of counselling services including: VCT, DTC, DCT, Adherence, OVC, PITC, CITC and the list continues to grow. 

In addition to HIV/AIDS the usual topics will feature ? including professional training, supervision, accreditation, counselling in schools, ethical concerns and standards. The conference will be organised around presentations and workshops. The Conference Committee will review abstracts and select papers accordingly. The participatory nature of the conference will allow a consensual set of recommendations to be communicated to governments, NGO's and counselling associations. 

People who wish to make a presentation are requested to complete the official abstract form.
