Challenge to Courtesy Bias Interpretation b
-------------------------------------------

Findings from a study conducted in Peru, Rwanda and India by the Institute for Reproductive Health, Georgetown University and recently published in Evaluation Review challenge the courtesy bias interpretation. Interpersonal behavior in contraceptive delivery documented in clinic exit questionnaires showed that providers excelled in courteousness in Peru and Rwanda. In India, providers were less courteous and respectful when simulated clients chose the pill. The article explains that results from previous qualitative studies that yielded a negative view of provider interpersonal relations may have expressed the views of a minority of clients who were not well treated or may have focused on clients outside the mainstream.
