Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a Programme for Global Paediatric Research (PGPR) call for abstracts and symposium to be held in Hangzhou, China on October 26 and 27, 2007. The symposium is entitled ?The Effect of Environmental Pollutants on Foetal and Child Development: A Global Issue?.

A comprehensive announcement and call for abstracts can be obtained from David Zakus at address above. We ask that you please distribute this pdf to your colleagues throughout the world. The deadline for abstract submission is July 31, 2007.

This symposium follows the most recent PGPR symposium and workshop held in Toronto last month. The titles of those sessions were Global Childhood Diseases Which Can Impair Development and Researching Outcomes for High Risk Newborns and Children in Developing Countries. In those meetings we discussed social, political and disease factors which could interfere with normal child development. The October meeting in Hangzhou considers yet another major cause of developmental failure in children, environmental pollutants.
