Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens
-------------------------------------------
Dear Friends of the Open Learning Web site on Enteric pathogens
A new lecture is available at site http://www.oloep.org
High Prevalence and Diversity of qnr genes in Enterobacteriaceae, Casablanca, Morocco.
M. Bouchakour, K. Zerouali, J.D.
Perrier-Gros-Claude, N. El Mdaghri, M. Timinouni
Institut Pasteur, Morocco and CHU Ibn Rochd, Morocco.
Plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance has been reported worldwide. Although independently acquired, it appears to be linked with extended spectrum or AmpC-type ß-lactamases. Since no data are available in African countries, this lecture highlights the high prevalence of qnr genes among ESBL strains in the university hospital Ibn Rochd CHU, Casablanca. Particularly, qnr were present in quinolone susceptible strains which could lead to in vivo selection of ciprofloxacin-resistant strains.
ciao
