VACANCIES:
Senior and junior advisors with experience in health systems, sexual and reproductive health and rights and/or disease control programmes for an average of 38 hours a week.
The Royal Tropical Institute (KIT) is an independent knowledge and expertise centre in the areas of international and intercultural cooperation. The institute is based in the Netherlands. KIT Development Policy & Practice is KIT's main department for development cooperation, specializing in health, education, social development and gender equity, and sustainable economic development. It is a multidisciplinary department conducting research, post-graduate education and advisory work. The Health Area is expanding its programme and will further develop its portfolio with strong involvement of partners from the South.
Main responsibilities:
In general:
? Strengthen the health portfolio by identifying and developing relevant partnerships with Southern and Northern organizations and institutions (Government departments, civil society organizations, training and research institutes and organizations specialized in knowledge management, etc.).
? Assist partners in documenting their experiences and contribute to the generation of a stronger evidence base for designing health system interventions.
? Develop policies, strategies, interventions, tools, guidelines and manuals to support appropriate health sector responses together with KIT staff and partners from the South. Contribute to national and international policy dialogue.
? Contribute to developing and implementing post-graduate education programmes.
? Identify and further develop business opportunities through pro-active acquisition, tendering and networking with potential funding partners and/or mechanisms.
More specific:
Besides your experience in priority health programs, it will be an asset if you have proven experience with systematic and evidence-based approaches in Health System Development. Two or more of the following components are important requirements of the functions:
The organisation of health services at primary- and hospital care level, development of national sector plans, demand-driven approaches; quality of care and quality assurance; human resource development, development of monitoring & evaluation and accountability systems, institutional development and the new architecture of aid.

The appointment is initially for two years, with the possibility of an extension. Applicants from abroad are encouraged to apply.
We ask:
1. For the senior advisor: More than 10 years' professional experience in Health in low and middle-income countries at national and international level Have a strong network with a variety of international funding agencies and local partners, in Africa and Asia Capacity to identify acquisition opportunities and further develop the health portfolio
2. For the junior advisor: More than 3 years' professional experience in Health in low and middle-income countries at national and international level.
Both: Master's degree in a relevant field. Strong team player and ability to work with different disciplinary teams Willingness and stamina to travel abroad regularly Facilitation and training skills will be an advantage as is affinity with teaching Excellent communication, writing and documentation skills Proficiency in spoken and written English and preferably also in French.
We offer: A salary between Euro 3,026 - 4,727 gross per month for a 38-hour working week, based on qualifications and experience 8% holiday allowance and admission to the pension fund (ABP) For applicants from abroad, there is the possibility of a 30% tax reduction, a temporary housing allowance and a moving allowance.
